DESKTOP ENGINEERING ONLINE: IronCAD Strives to Define Ease for 3D Design
By combining history-based parametrics and direct geometry manipulation into a single modeling environment, IRONCAD V11 brings fun back into 3D design process, according to IronCAD LLC (Atlanta, GA). IRONCAD's drag and drop 3D environment provides an alternative to traditional history-based parametric systems, says the company, and gives designers and engineers greater design freedom and flexibility, enabling them to get products to market faster and with better quality... DESKTOP ENGINEERING ONLINE: Editor’s Pick
IRONCAD straddles a unique position in the CAD world. It has the power and functionality to attract the attention of any serious designer, engineer, or manufacturer. It facilitates file transfers, it does things that more expensive systems do, and it can serve as a complement to your PLM system. But it hasn't attracted the attention it should in North America. Which is why I recommend that you register and download the free evaluation of IRONCAD... (read more...)

CADALYST Magazine: IronCAD v10 Review
In the world of 3D modeling, as in other fields, there seems to be many camps. The fully parametric camp cannot feel confident unless everything is quantified with a number or a parameter. The direct modeling camp really doesn't care about the numbers as long as the form is right. And even within these camps, there are distinctions. People in the parametric camp pair off based on modeling kernel. Some like Parasolid, and others go for ACIS. Each camp takes a slightly different approach to what they do, and each is adamant in their distinction. So what's a software developer to do to win customers over to its ranks? Well, it could try what IronCAD is trying — do it all! (read more...)

CAD User Mechanical Magazine: IronCAD v10 Review
Unhindered by the traditional history tree, it has been likened to modelling in clay. A wide variety of 3D shapes are dragged and dropped into a scene from the Catalog browser, where they can be manipulated using the standard grab handles, or rotated into position using IronCAD's unique Triball device. The Catalog Browser also includes holes, pyramids, twists and a partial torus, and variable driven shape under the Advanced Shapes tab, spirals and bolt patterns etc... It is all incredibly easy to use, with additional tools to handle things like insertions, placing constraints and so on, enabling users to become productive in a very short time... (read more...)

MCAD Magazine: IronCAD v10.0 Review
Dynamic and direct manipulation of geometry is going to grow, through some vendors faster than others - some as a reaction to competitors’ moves and others through a desire to improve ease of use. And this places IronCAD in a strong position. It has been built from the ground up to work this way and has had years of development work – if you’re thinking that direct modelling might be for you, try a system that’s been doing it for years. It has great translation tools, and a robust and growing set of tools that can do the job.... (read more...)
